Why visit Whitland?
Whitland is an important small town in West Wales. We have the Hywel Dda Heritage Centre and Gardens, (translates to "Hywel the Good"), with a small café. Here, you are able to find out about the history of the town and how the Welsh king Hywel Dda, visited Whitland to write the "Laws of Hywel Dda", which are based on compassion, common sense and recognition of the rights of women.

Later on the Victorians helped to reshape the town, with the railway station being the gateway to the rest of the west of Wales and the stunning coastline and beaches. As such there is a lot of Victorian architecture and features still to be seen. Both schools and many buildings are built using the easily recognisable Victorian styles. There is also a very rare post box still by the secondary school set into a wall.

Just recently, September 2024, The Station House Pub has had a couple of murals added on the station facing side, one is trains through the ages to showcase the importance of the train station through the ages, and the other for remembrance "Lest we Forget", both are lovely additions to the town.
With easy access to the coast and beautiful beaches we have so much to offer to anyone visiting on holiday or living locally. We also have ample free parking, free Wi-Fi spots, and the aforementioned train station, so you'll find lots of things to do in Whitland!
